Chief Technology Officer

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) provides sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business. Responsible to communicate with employees, stakeholders and customers to ensure our company’s technologies are used appropriately. Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. Should be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts. Must also be an excellent communicator and public speaker.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible to transition from legacy systems to modern technology and/or migrating/upgrading existing platforms
  • Ensure that the organization’s technology fully serves its business strategy
  • Discover and implement the most relevant technologies that yield competitive advantage
  • Creating timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services
  • Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards
  • Help departments use technology profitably
  • Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
  • Cross-train current IT staff to learn and program in other existing systems
  • Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
  • Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Experience, Education & Skills

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
  • Proven experience as a CTO or similar leadership role
  • Prior life and/or annuity insurance industry experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy
  • Understanding of budgets and business-planning
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or as otherwise arranged with the manager of the department. Position will require work outside of the daily schedule including some evenings and weekends and some travel.
